What Story Does Your Life Tell?

I therefore, a prisoner for the Lord, urge you to walk in a manner worthy of the calling to which you have been called Ephesians 4:1 ESV

My father recently had an experience with a Christian with whom he had done some business. The two had a discussion on price during which my father agreed to pay a particular sum for raw materials required for the project. Which he did.

The gentleman, however, did not purchase the raw materials as promised. Instead he used sub-par material that was already on hand and re-purposed it in a way to disguise what he had done.

As expected, when my father realized what he had done his first comment was “And he calls himself a Christian.”

Now my father is not of the faith and unfortunately he has too many of those stories where those who identify themselves with the body of Christ fail to act in a manner worthy of the calling. It made me wonder:

“What do my actions tell about my God?”

“Am I acting in a manner that tells a great story of a life transformed by the son of God who came and died for my sins and that of all humanity?”

If someone were to read my life like a book, what story would it tell? Would they know that there was something different about me (different good, that is)?

Or would they say like Gandhi,”’I like your Christ; I do not like your Christians. Your Christians are so unlike your Christ.’

What story does your life tell?
