The Lies We Tell Ourselves
Table of Contents
Are you fulfilling the plans God has for your life? As Christians, we love to reassure ourselves and others that God has a plan. We want to believe that even when life feels less than fulfilling there’s something great or at least important in our future. But oftentimes, unfortunately, when we find ourselves with this great purpose we are paralyzed to put it into action.
Most times, the thing that paralyzes us the most is the lies we tell ourselves.
The Lies That May Be Hampering Your Progress
But Ami, you may be screaming I don’t tell myself lies…at least, not any that have any impact on my success.
That may be true but let me ask you a question, have you ever not done something to advance your dream because you were afraid? Maybe you told yourself you didn’t have the time. Or that you’re not qualified to do the thing God has called you to do.
A book I read recently, Thinking Like A Boss, was instrumental in showing me some of the lies that may be holding me back from achieving the tasks God has given me.
My Review of Thinking Like A Boss
Thinking Like A Boss sought to uncover 12 lies that female business owners tell themselves which hold them back in business. But it didn’t stop there.
Kate Crocco also gave you some tips on how you could throw off the lies and get moving in the right direction. While some of the advice was good, it included a lot of visualization exercises and self-affirmation.
As this was published by Baker Books I expected more Jesus. Instead, the advice was mostly secular and didn’t seem to consider the very unique position occupied by Christian female entrepreneurs.
While some of the advice is viable, I was hoping the book would address some of the specific concerns I have as a Christian business owner. Questions like,
- How do I market my product and still be Jesus to the world?
- How do I resolve my queasiness towards charging for my services from a biblical perspective?
- Quite frankly I wanted to find out what would Jesus do if he were a business person?
- How should I approach my business from a biblical perspective?
Thinking Like A Boss did not address these concerns but you’ll still get value for your money. Kate Crocco comes alongside you like a motivational coach. She encourages you to let go of the lies that may be holding you back from accomplishing your dreams and creating the business you want.
Thinking Like A Boss has exercises to encourage you to visualize the life that you want, as well as, to get past the various lies that may be hampering your progress.
Thinking Like A Boss is a great addition to your bookshelf if you need help to gain some traction in moving your business forward. Get your copy of Thinking Like A Boss today.
I received an advanced reader’s copy from Baker Books as part of the blogger reads program; a positive review is not required.
