What or who do you believe?
Do you have strong opinions or do your opinions wobble all over the place?
Is God calling you to deeper faith this calendar year?
The Online Dictionary defines believe as:
1. To accept (something) as true; feel sure of the truth of.
2. To accept the statement of (someone) as true.
3. To have faith, especially religious faith.
4. To feel sure that (someone) is capable of a particular action.
5. To hold (something) as an opinion; think or suppose.
What Do You Do When You Don’t Believe?
One of the best ways to increase your faith is to find inspiration in the Bible.
There are two stories in the Bible about faith that I absolutely love reading. They both include pregnancy in impossible situations.
The first story is found in Genesis where the angel of the Lord told Sarah that she would have a son in a year’s time (read the story in Genesis 18:9-15). She laughed because she didn’t think it possible.
On the other hand, Mary, when she was told that she would have a baby believed that it was possible (read her story in Luke 1:26-38). In fact, her words were “Let it be as you say.”
In both cases, God points out that what is impossible for man is possible with God.
Maybe the thing that God asked you to do seems outside of your realm.
That’s okay – he calls us to stretch beyond what we can do naturally on our own.
