All the people depended on the king and his son for their livelihood. Without the king and the prince, they would have no access to water… they would not have anything to eat. Without the king, they would have no clothes, no jobs, poor health and no access to healthcare. In fact, without the king and his son they wouldn’t be able to live.

But the sad news was: none of the people even realized how dependent they were on the king and his son. They never said thank you or paid the taxes they owed. They spent their entire day congratulating themselves for the great job they were doing and how wonderful they were. No thought was given to the two who owned the land.

The townspeople heard the news about the dangerous lion but each person thought they could defeat the lion if they saw him. Little did they know that only the mighty king and his son could save them.

Unknown to the people, the son convinced his father to let him go and fight the lion to save the people. Tears in his eyes, the father watched his son, his only son, leave home to fight a battle for people who didn’t acknowledge or even care about his existence.

The prince fought the lion and delivered a mighty blow. The lion didn’t die but was mortally wounded. The townspeople heard the sound of the hurting lion and paused briefly in their daily tasks not understanding or knowing that the prince had risked his life to save them…
